Red Vermouth Casa Mariol
The Vermouth Rosso di Casa Mariol is a Spanish spiced wine, produced by an organic Catalan winery. The Mariol family has been making wine for three generations and now innovates with a Mediterranean vermouth, dressed in a bottle designed by Mirko Borsche. Persistent hints of herbs, sweet spices and citrus fruits form an intriguing bouquet. The palate is fresh, round and with a pleasantly bitter finish
The Casa Mariol Red Vermouth is a flavored wine from Catalonia, a testament to the connection between the estate and the territory of Terra Alta. In fact, the goal of Josep Maria, Miguel Àngel, and Marta Vaquer, the third generation of wine producers, is to enhance Catalan excellence, with particular attention to Terra Alta, home of the bodega. Pursuing this aim, within the 50 hectares of property, the family cultivates traditional varieties such as Macabeu, Xarel-lo, Parellada, Verdejo, Garnacha Blanca, Garnacha Tinta, Trepat, Tempranillo, and Samsó, the name that Carignano takes in Catalonia, as well as international grapes like Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay.
Casa Mariol Red Vermouth is produced from a base of wine made from selected white grapes, particularly Macabeu, darkened with green walnuts and flavored through the maceration of botanicals collected from the Terra Alta region. Among the ingredients used in the maceration are thyme, orange peel, cardamom, artemisia, and rosemary. Once the flavoring process is complete, the vermouth is subjected to a few months of aging according to the Solera Method and is finally bottled in a peculiar one-liter format.
The Casa Mariol Red Vermouth has an intense and dark garnet red color. On the nose, distinct aromas of vanilla, orange peel, cola nut, clove, and cinnamon emerge, enriched by hints of Mediterranean herbs such as thyme and rosemary. A balanced and very fresh sip, round and quite vertical, with a persistent and pleasantly bitter finish. This Catalan vermouth represents the perfect ingredient to add a Mediterranean touch to the most classic cocktails that use vermouth, such as Negroni, Americano, and Manhattan.
