The ‘Sissi - Semicolon’ from the Nikolaihof winery is a Gemischter Satz, which is a blend of various types of vines, all over a hundred years old, where Riesling, Neuburger, Auxerrois, Chardonnay, and the Veltliner variants grow side by side in the same plot. The name recalls the Austrian empress and her quest for freedom away from court rules, just like this wine that rejects the conventions of classic winemaking through whole cluster fermentation and a long aging in barriques. The result is a graceful wine with great character, ideal when paired with a platter of aged goat cheeses
