The Pinot Bianco from San Michele Appiano is one of the most important labels from this famous winery in South Tyrol, certainly the one that best represents the vocation of the estate's territory, particularly suitable for the cultivation of this ancient variety originating from Burgundy. The climate and soils of the Appiano area have proven perfect for allowing the grape variety to express itself at high qualitative levels, with a wine that has a delicate and elegant profile, characterized by aromas of white-fleshed fruit, floral hints, and pleasant mineral freshness.
The Pinot Bianco wine is part of the Classics line of the Alto Adige winery of San Michele Appiano. It is a small cooperative founded in the early 1900s, which has managed to undertake a virtuous path, aiming to achieve the highest quality, trying to enhance the grape varieties that have been present in the region for centuries. The Pinot Bianco has adapted very well to the pedoclimatic situation of the estate, which consists of about 380 hectares, mainly located in the Appiano area. The vineyards are cultivated at an altitude ranging from 480 to 650meters above sea level, with a fresh and sunny southeast exposure, on gravelly soils, with a good presence of limestone. Fermentation begins in steel tanks, with partial malolactic fermentation also taking place. Before bottling, the wine matures for a few months in steel tanks.
The Pinot Bianco from the San Michele Appiano winery is born in a territory characterized by strong temperature excursions, created by the cold winds that descend from the Mendola at night and the warm sunny days, which favor the slow ripening of the grapes with elegant and intense aromatic profiles. The color is light straw yellow, with bright greenish reflections. On the nose, it offers refined aromas, with notes of granny smith apple, pear, and hints of white flowers. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with a harmonious and creamy sip, a fresh and very balanced finish. It is a wine of extraordinary versatility at the table, capable of pairing with first courses, vegetables, and seafood menus with delicate flavors.
