Barbera d'Asti Superiore 'La Luna e i Falò' Vite Colte 2023
The Barbera d'Asti Superiore La Luna e i Falò by Vite Colte is a rich and juicy expression of the Asti terroir that presents itself with an intense ruby red color and releases inviting aromas of fresh violets, red plums, and licorice on a vanilla background. On the palate, it is dry, soft, and full-bodied with a persistent finish of berries.
“The Moon and the Bonfires” is the Barbera d’Asti Superiore signed by Vite Colte, indeed, as the winery itself suggests, we could define it as a “superbarbera”. The importance of this label is confirmed by the fact that, in the range of expressions inspired by Cesare Pavese, this one is dedicated to one of the most famous and iconic novels. It is born from the blending of grapes coming from different plots, scattered over more than 60 hectares of diverse vineyards. During the processing phase, the range of choice among the different batches is wide, allowing the winery to “play”, harvest after harvest, with aromas and structures that can be adjusted at will. The result, just like with this vintage, is always of great balance, with the right compromise between complexity and elegance.
The Barbera d’Asti Superiore “The Moon and the Bonfires” is made from pure Barbera grapes, cultivated in over 60 hectares of vineyards and carefully managed by the technicians of the Vite Colte winery. The different parcels obviously have different soils and microclimates, and these differences allow for the selection of the best balance between structure and aromas. The must ferments in stainless steel containers at a controlled temperature, macerating on the skins for 10 days and then also undergoing malolactic fermentation. The subsequent aging lasts for 12 months and takes place in oak barrels.
“La Luna e i Falò” is a Barbera d’Asti Superiore that presents itself to the eye with a deep ruby red color. The nose is filled with deep and intense aromas, dominated by scents of violet and plums, enhanced by a finish that leans towards spiciness with hints of vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied, flavorful, with a sip that flows with balance, highlighting a pleasant persistence on the finish. We are faced with a bottle that offers excellent value for money, which every year receives praise from enthusiasts and industry guides.
