Barbera d'Asti 'Asinoi' Carussin 2024
The Barbera d'Asti "Asinoi" is a special dedication to the passion that the family dedicates to the donkey of the estate. It is a fresh and smooth red wine that ferments and ages in steel, maturing for a short period in cement tanks. Baskets of berries and bunches of red flowers make up a delicate and fragrant bouquet. The taste is simple and light, energetic and refreshing.
The Barbera d’Asti ‘Asinoi’ is configured as a spontaneous and genuine interpretation, created by the artisanal reality of Carussin. This winery in the Monferrato area, located precisely in the municipality of San Marzano Oliveto, is strongly linked to Barbera, an indigenous variety that the owner Bruna Ferro offers in five different versions. Among these, the Barbera d’Asti ‘Asinoi’ is the most youthful and immediate version, “particularly suitable for a snack with great friends to enjoy together” as stated by the winery itself. The name of the label derives from Bruna's passion for the donkey, an animal that through the national association “l’Asino” the producer intends to protect.
Carussin Barbera d’Asti ‘Asinoi’ is made from only Barbera grapes grown in a biological and biodynamic regime within the municipalities of San Marzano Oliveto, Nizza Monferrato, and Agliano Terme. The vineyard plantings, which are completely grassed, date back to 1970, 1981, and 1984. Towards the end of September, manual harvesting of the bunches in boxes is carried out, followed by gentle pressing and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks in contact with the skins with daily remontages. The subsequent maturation phase lasts for a few months and takes place in cement tanks. Throughout the entire process, the use of clarification or filtration operations is excluded.
‘Asinoi’ Barbera d’Asti Carussin has a ruby red color with distinct purple hues. On the nose, fragrant sensations of berries, cherry, plum, red flowers, and aromatic herbs are perceived. The taste shows a smooth and easy-drinking character thanks to its light body, lively freshness, and never intrusive tannins.
