The “Real” Riserva by Moschioni is an intense and full-bodied Friulian red wine that originates from the hilly area near the beautiful village of Cividale del Friuli. Its name, Real, means true in Friulian, indicating the authentic nature of the wine and its ability to sincerely and genuinely represent the character of the place. The wine is a balanced blend composed of a majority percentage of Tazzelenghe, an indigenous grape variety with exuberant freshness, combined with two noble Bordeaux grape varieties, cultivated in Friuli for centuries: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This combination creates a red wine of remarkable structure, complex and rich, particularly suited for pairing with roasts or game.
The Rosso Riserva “Real” is produced by a historic winery, present for centuries in a very suitable area for viticulture in Friuli. The Moschioni estate extends over approximately 30 hectares, with numerous plots located on the beautiful hills of Cividale del Friuli. At the end of the 1980s, contrary to the customs of the area, the Moschioni winery decided to focus its production on indigenous red grape varieties.red historically cultivated in Friuli, such as Tazzelenghe, Pignolo, Schioppettino, and Refosco. The vineyards are cultivated under organic farming practices, with the aim of producing healthy and genuine grapes, an essential prerequisite for creating great terroir wines.
The "Real" Moschioni wine is a red reserve of remarkable personality. Usually, Friuli is thought of as a land of whites. In reality, there are many red grape varieties in the region, and among these, Tazzelenghe is one of the most interesting. Its name comes from the dialect expression "tongue cutter" due to its decisive and sharp character. It's no coincidence that to bring harmony to the wine, the Friulian grape is combined with the elegant aromas of Cabernet Sauvignon and the typical softness of Merlot. After the classic red fermentation with skin maceration, the wine matures for several months in oak barriques, then in large barrels, and completes its aging with a rest in the bottle. It presents an intense ruby red color with violet reflections. On the nose, it expresses aromas of wild berries, strawberry jam, floral hints, and spicy notes. On the palate, it is structured, with dense aromas and a tight tannic structure. The finish is persistent and very fresh.
